Have you left your run too late? Reminiscences of a late blooming woman
All my life I’ve been a late bloomer and up until recently this had always frustrated me
- Small for my years as a kid
- Shy and socially inept as a teen
- It was years before I felt I moved into having a career – everything else prior was just a job
- It took me an eon to find my soul mate (if you believe in such things … and I do)
- And even longer to work out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
In fact, despite many different iterations in my career, I didn’t really figure that out until I hit 50.
But the one thing I’ve always done is focus on my own personal and professional growth – learning, refining and stretching myself
So there I was one day, working with my coach and all of a sudden it came to me – THIS IS IT!
Gender equity, fem-empowerment – helping women to be the best they can be. This was something I could truly sink my teeth into. In fact, this was what I always wanted to be when I grew up, but I just never knew it.
And while I’ve just passed 8 years in my business I can see myself continuing this passion for the next decade.
It’s amazing what you can achieve when you get your inner hustle on – no matter when you get started.
It’s a great reminder that it’s okay to keep aiming high and it’s okay to go at your own pace
Be the leader you want to see, not the one that’s worried about what other people will think.
Shout out to Louise Hay (deceased yet amazingly inspiring), Arian Huffington, Vera Wang and so very many more late blooming women.
And if you’re heading towards a big round birthday and feeling anxious? Maybe it’s the start of something bigger and even better.
It’s never too late to tackle big important work.
