Have you hit the “glass ceiling” so many times, it feels as if the top of your head is flat? Has your journey through the executive ranks seem to have stalled out? Are your dedication and hard work going unrewarded? Are you feeling underappreciated or misunderstood in the workplace? If so…welcome to The Club!

“This is THE place, where like-minded, executive-minded, forward-thinking women come to communicate—collaborate—and celebrate everything that it means to be a career-focused woman in a male-dominated work environment. This isn’t about ‘us vs. them.’ This is about us making a name for ourselves—taking a seat, and truly owning that seat, at the executive table—and doing so not as ‘clones’ of men, but as authentic, self-confident, self-empowered women.”

No matter how much diversity your organization preaches, the reality is: we’re yet to see a level playing field for male and female executives.

You’ve felt it before, right? The hidden biases, perceptions and stereotypes claiming their stake in your success. You’re told to ‘lead like a man’, you’re called a ‘ball breaker’, and you’re forced to choose between flexibility and success.

So, if you’ve ever felt limited in your ability to achieve both the career and life you crave, you’re not alone.

1970's

I grew up on a farm in South Australia to which I credit much of my independence and feminist ideas. Role models were strong women, often the brains behind the brawn on many surrounding farms however very few women other than my mum had professional careers.

1975

My parents encouraged my siblings and I to do all sorts of interesting things including learning to ride a motor bike, drive a tractor and using a go-kart to drive on a specially built go-kart track to catch the school bus – not the usual hobbies of young girls.

1980's

After studying education and dance and with no clear goal in mind, I drifted into the fitness industry where I eventually became a State Aerobics Champion before moving from Adelaide to Sydney to manage a gym.

I then headed back to university to complete a Bachelor of Education as part of my lifelong passion for learning and education.

1990's

I found a home in the association sector designing and developing conferences and educational training programs where I worked my way through the ranks into leadership roles. The common theme of all professional associations is that people join for career advancement and self-promotion opportunities – publishing, positioning speaking, Boards and Awards. You could say, I’ve been helping people win raises, promotions, and recognition since 1993. It’s what I’m talented at!

2014

After almost 6 years as CEO of SOCAP Australia, I finally found my why. I’d call for papers – and 10 men would respond yet only one woman. I’d call for award nominations and the amazing women in this sector would pull out all stops to nominate their junior staff, but then have run out of time or be too worn out (code for Imposter Syndrome) to have the time or energy to be able to nominate themselves.

Yet these were the women you would want on your side in a negotiation as they were simply the best in Australia. All of a sudden my mission was born: to help women to play a much bigger game – change the world if you will – and do so with big ideas, big impact and big, audacious bucket loads of confidence.

2020's

Spring forward to now and I have a thriving business, am a 2 x author with clients from all around the globe, and a reputation for my expertise in both gender equity and feminine empowerment. I help clients win pay rises, promotions and the recognition they truly deserve. With several clients more than doubling their salary, and yet others increasing their salary by more than $150K in 6 months to 12 months I help women navigate conservative power and bias.

I’ve had clients land CEO roles and many more land the role of their dreams and frequently sign up for more as I help them stay confident, forward facing and feeling like they are back in the driver’s seat of their career again.

Most recently she has been working with a range of people including a C-suite executive in an ASX100, a consultant establishing her own brand and an HR executive wanting to carve out a more powerful career path and be valued for the expertise she brings to the table.

You might even say Amanda is like a personal trainer for those who are ready to strive for ambitious goals or projects but who need that extra push, strategic focus or confidence boost.

What differentiates her is that despite humble origins she has big dreams, is determined, self assured and provides a great example of hands on leadership that navigates the stormy waters between likeability and getting things done. She truly understands and provides solutions for the challenges people face in balancing a demanding role, ambition and workload, along with a fulfilling personal life.

Because not stepping up, speaking out or taking charge can keep you feeling stuck and prevent you from realising the full extent of your professional and personal worth. This does little justice to you and the organisations/clients you work for. To simply overcome a few of these issues will not only increase your confidence, but new opportunities will present themselves effortlessly as will the feeling of being back in the driver’s seat of your work, career and life.

Thanks Amanda Blesing again for your support! If you are looking for the next role, never underestimate the power of LinkedIn. Through few “out there”, but strategically targeted invitations & messages, I got interviews with some big global companies, and a few Skype interviews later, landed my new fab role in Europe. What did I do? Played to my strengths, emphasised the value I create for organisations and yes, lived my brand.
